Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has offered a heartwarming glimpse into his upcoming film, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, with the release of its first official poster. The vibrant and inclusive poster, unveiled today, features Khan surrounded by a group of ten young debutant actors, all radiating unique personalities and athletic energy on a basketball court.
The poster’s tagline, “Sabka Apna Apna Normal,” immediately signals the film’s core message of celebrating neurodiversity and embracing individual differences. This resonates deeply with the spirit of Khan’s critically acclaimed 2007 film, ‘Taare Zameen Par’, which sensitively explored the challenges faced by a child with dyslexia. While not a direct sequel, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is being described as a spiritual successor, taking the thematic exploration of inclusivity “ten steps ahead,” according to Khan himself.
The first look is visually striking, employing a bright, hand-drawn aesthetic reminiscent of ‘Taare Zameen Par’, adorned with playful doodles of stars and basketballs, hinting at the film’s blend of light-heartedness and social consciousness. Khan, holding a basketball, sports an expression that is both determined and playful, suggesting his character’s pivotal role in the lives of these young individuals.
Directed by R.S. Prasanna, known for his work on ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is a Hindi adaptation of the 2018 Spanish comedy-drama ‘Campeones’. The original film tells the story of a basketball coach who is unexpectedly tasked with leading a team of players with intellectual disabilities, only to discover that they have as much to teach him as he has to offer them.
‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ promises to adapt this inspiring narrative for Indian audiences with cultural sensitivity and emotional depth. The film will see Aamir Khan in a role vastly different from his empathetic art teacher character in ‘Taare Zameen Par’. He will portray a basketball coach named Gulshan, a character described as initially rude and politically incorrect, who undergoes a transformation through his interactions with the differently-abled players.
Joining Aamir Khan is a talented ensemble cast including Genelia Deshmukh, Dolly Ahluwalia, and the ten debutant actors: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. 1 The music for the film is composed by the renowned trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, further raising anticipation for the film’s overall impact. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is slated for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025. The film’s first poster and its powerful message of embracing one’s unique “normal” have already generated considerable excitement among fans and audiences, who eagerly await this heartwarming and potentially groundbreaking cinematic experience.
