New Delhi, August 12, 2025: Pralhad Joshi, a Union Minister from the BJP, has brought a recent political controversy to the forefront.who has raised questions regarding the Congress party’s decision to remove one of its ministers in Karnataka. The minister, K.N. Rajanna, was reportedly forced to resign after he made public statements that were critical of his own party’s stance on alleged electoral irregularities.

During a recent interview, Minister Joshi reportedly highlighted a significant contradiction within the Congress party. While the party’s leadership, including Rahul Gandhi, has been at the forefront of protests against what they call “vote theft” and “voter fraud,” a minister who pointed out a flaw in their own narrative was removed from his position.

The comments that led to Rajanna’s dismissal were centered on the timing of the alleged irregularities. Rajanna, a senior politician, reportedly stated that the voter rolls in question had been prepared while the Congress government was in power in the state. He went on to say that the party “should feel ashamed” that such issues occurred under its own administration.

This statement was seized upon by Pralhad Joshi, who was quoted as saying, “What wrong did he say?” Joshi’s remarks were aimed at the Congress party, suggesting that Rajanna’s comments were not only valid but also brought to light a truth that the party was unwilling to confront. The BJP leader further claimed that the Congress’s action of removing a minister for speaking the truth revealed its “mentality” and “arrogance.”

The controversy is part of a larger political narrative surrounding allegations of electoral malpractices. The Congress has been actively protesting and marching to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to register its complaints. However, the BJP has countered these claims, labeling the protests as “childish” and arguing that the responsibility for any irregularities lies with the state administration, which was controlled by the Congress at the time. It has also been reported that the ECI had asked the Congress to provide a sworn affidavit with evidence to support its claims, a request that was declined.

The removal of Rajanna, a close aide of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has reportedly sent a strong message to other dissenting voices within the party. It has been speculated that Rajanna’s removal may be followed by his expulsion from the party, in a move that is seen as a warning to those who may publicly contradict the party’s official line. The political drama is unfolding as the monsoon session of the Karnataka legislature is underway, with the opposition BJP bringing up the issue in the assembly as well.
