A horrifying incident of school violence has sent shockwaves through Ahmedabad after a Class 10 student, Nayan Santani, succumbed to his injuries a day after being fatally stabbed by a junior student. The subsequent police investigation has unearthed a “chilling” Instagram chat in which the accused, a Class 8 student, appears to confess to the crime and shows a shocking lack of remorse.

The incident took place just outside the Seventh-Day Adventist Higher Secondary School. According to reports, a verbal altercation between Nayan and the junior escalated into a physical confrontation. The younger student allegedly pulled out a knife, stabbed Nayan in the stomach, and fled the scene. Despite stumbling back into the school and being rushed to a private hospital, Nayan tragically died from his wounds.

The Instagram conversation, which has since been accessed by authorities, reveals a cold and casual exchange between the accused and a friend. When the friend asks about the incident, the accused initially attempts to evade the question before admitting to the stabbing. The conversation takes a disturbing turn when the friend informs the accused that the victim has died. The accused’s response, translated from Hindi, is a flippant “Let it be. What has happened has happened,” and a dismissive “I didn’t mean to kill him” (Maar nahi daalna tha).

This disturbing chat has become a key piece of evidence in the police investigation. The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR), and the minor accused has been detained under the Juvenile Act.

The tragic death of Nayan Santani has sparked widespread outrage and protests among parents and local community members in Ahmedabad. Enraged mobs have reportedly vandalized school property and clashed with police, demanding justice and better safety measures in educational institutions. In response to the growing public anger, the State Education Minister, Prafulbhai Panseriya, has expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and called for peace, while also suggesting a study on the increasing criminal mindset among children, which he attributed to social media and certain games.
