New Delhi, August 29, 2025: Apple iPhone 17 series has been officially announced for a global unveiling on September 9, 2025. While official pricing has not been disclosed, industry speculation suggests that the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro will be priced starting around ₹89,900 and ₹1,34,990, respectively, in the Indian market. These prices reflect a potential increase over previous models, which is attributed to significant upgrades across the lineup.

Launch and Availability

The new iPhone 17 series will be unveiled at a special event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California. A swift rollout is expected for the Indian market, a testament to its growing importance for Apple. Pre-orders are slated to begin on September 12, 2025, with the devices becoming available for purchase in India on September 19, 2025. This expedited timeline ensures that Indian consumers will be among the first to acquire the new flagships.

What’s New with the iPhone 17 Series

A range of substantial improvements is expected to be introduced with the new devices. The entire lineup is rumored to be powered by the new A19 chip, promising a notable boost in performance and efficiency. For the first time, all models, including the base iPhone 17, are expected to feature a 120Hz Promotion display, a feature previously reserved for the Pro models. This is a significant upgrade that will be welcomed by consumers.

The camera systems across the board are also said to have been heavily improved. The base iPhone 17 is rumored to receive a new 24-megapixel front-facing camera, a considerable jump from the previous generation. The Pro models, in particular, are expected to feature a new, redesigned camera setup with a triple-lens system, including an upgraded 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 8x optical zoom.

A new model, the iPhone 17 Air, is also anticipated to be introduced, which will reportedly be the thinnest iPhone ever made, replacing the “Plus” model. All new iPhones will be shipped with iOS 26, bringing a suite of new AI-powered features and a redesigned “Liquid Glass” user interface. The devices will also feature a new vapor chamber cooling system to prevent overheating during intensive tasks.

Manufacturing in India

In a major development for the Indian economy, it is understood that all four iPhone 17 models, including the Pro variants, are being manufactured in India. This strategic move is expected to boost local production and reinforce India’s position as a global manufacturing and supply hub for Apple products. The production facilities include Tata’s Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu and Foxconn’s unit in Bengaluru. This move is expected to not only meet domestic demand but also facilitate exports to other global markets.
