Pan-Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna was notably absent from the grand trailer launch event of her upcoming horror-comedy film, Thamma, in Mumbai. The star, who plays the pivotal role of Tadaka in the Maddock Films production, was regretfully tied up with another major project, explaining that “Dinoo sir has me shooting for Cocktail 2 in Sicily right now.”

The highly-anticipated trailer launch of Thamma, which is set to hit theatres this Diwali, saw the rest of the ensemble cast and the film’s creative team in attendance. Despite the geographical distance, Rashmika made sure to connect with her fans, the media, and her co-stars by sending a heartfelt video message directly from her international film set in Italy.

In her message, the actress expressed her apologies for missing the event, attributing her absence to the tight schedule of Cocktail 2, a spiritual sequel to the 2012 hit. She specifically mentioned ‘Dinoo sir,’ referring to producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, who is backing both Thamma and Cocktail 2.

“Hi everyone! I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it to the trailer launch today, Dinoo sir has me shooting for Cocktail 2 in Sicily right now,” Rashmika said in the clip, before wholeheartedly sharing her excitement for her upcoming horror-comedy. She added, “But I truly hope you loved the Thamma trailer and our brand-new Maddock Horror Comedy Universe logo! Tadaka is such a strong and special character, and it’s been an absolute honour and privilege to bring her alive on screen.”

The actress, who shares screen space with Ayushmann Khurrana, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal in Thamma, assured her well-wishers that she would be present for all subsequent promotional activities for the film.

Rashmika’s current shoot for Cocktail 2, alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, is taking place in the picturesque locales of Sicily, Italy. Directed by Homi Adajania, the romantic drama has already generated significant buzz, with several behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the trio from the Italian schedule circulating widely online. The busy international shooting schedule clearly underscores the actress’s commitment to her multi-project lineup, even as it forces her to miss key domestic events for her other releases.

Thamma is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 21st, adding to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, which includes successful films like Stree and Bhediya. Rashmika’s dual presence in major films from the same banner highlights her rising status as a leading actress in the Bollywood landscape.
