Viral Road Ruckus: Woman’ Wrong-Way Ride and Subsequent Altercation in Bengaluru

New Delhi, November 15, 2025: A video clip capturing a heated roadside confrontation near the Baiyappanahalli Flyover has been widely shared on social media, sparking a debate about road discipline and enforcement in Bengaluru. The footage shows a woman on a two-wheeler riding against the flow of traffic before an autorickshaw was collided with.

Incident Details and Aftermath

In the viral clip, the rider is seen shouting and abusing the auto driver, even as a traffic police officer was stepped in and repeatedly asked her to calm down. The woman was told by the cop that she was driving in the wrong direction and causing a disruption; however, the auto driver was insisted by the woman to be at fault. The auto driver’s position was maintained by him, and it was explained that he was on the correct side of the road.

A traffic jam, nearly a kilometre long, was triggered by the altercation during peak hours, according to commuters who filmed the incident. Several vehicles were forced to squeeze past the argument on the narrow flyover stretch.

Public Response and Calls for Action

Following the incident, a wave of criticism was prompted online, with many users urging the Bengaluru Traffic Police to take action against the two-wheeler rider. Penalties and clearer road demarcation on the stretch have been demanded by users tagging the department.

The lack of immediate enforcement was questioned by one user: “Why was the woman who was driving on the wrong side not fined? Why should someone following rules be dragged into an argument? The police should have seized her vehicle.” Additionally, the infrastructural issues that often encourage wrong-side driving were also highlighted by others.

As of this time, a public statement has not been issued by the Bengaluru Traffic Police, but an investigation into the matter is expected to be initiated.
