New Delhi, November 18, 2025: Following her reported exits from major projects like Spirit and Kalki 2898 AD (formerly Kalki 2 Exit), an evolved perspective has been shared by Bollywood star Deepika Padukone. It has been stated by the actress that films with a massive financial scope, those projected to earn ₹500-600 crore, are no longer a source of excitement for her.
During a recent interview, a clear shift in her career motivations was articulated by Ms. Padukone. Emphasis was placed on the fact that financial returns and box-office collections are no longer given paramount importance when projects are being chosen.
“At this stage, it’s not about that anymore. It’s not about the ₹100-crore films, or even the ₹500–₹600 crore ones,” it was stated by her. The key question, “How much more money,” was reportedly asked by the actress, signifying that a saturation point has been reached regarding monetary gain.
Instead of commercial size, a focus on authenticity and empowerment has been affirmed as the new criteria for her work. It is understood that a significant part of her current focus is being directed toward enabling diverse storytelling and supporting emerging talent in the industry.
This declaration follows the news of her stepping away from two high-profile films opposite Prabhas, with speculations having been raised about issues like equal pay and fair working hours being demanded by her team.
