The Three-Stage Selection Path

The CGPSC follows a rigorous three-stage selection process to select the most capable candidates for these coveted state services positions:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Prelims): This is the first screening stage, consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies and Aptitude Test). The Prelims marks are qualifying in nature and do not count toward the final merit list.
  2. Main Examination (Mains): Candidates shortlisted from the Prelims proceed to the Mains, which features seven descriptive-type papers. This stage carries significant weightage (1400 marks).
  3. Interview/Personality Test: The final stage, worth 100 marks, assesses the candidate’s overall personality, leadership qualities, and suitability for the administrative role.

The Preliminary Examination is scheduled to be held on February 22, 2026. The Main Examination is tentatively scheduled from May 16 to 19, 2026.

Aspirants must ensure they download and retain a printout of the submitted application form and the fee receipt for future reference. Given the high competition, immediate registration and focused preparation are essential.
