New Delhi | January 3, 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially cleared the air for millions of government job aspirants by releasing the much-awaited examination schedule for two of its biggest recruitment drives: SSC GD Constable 2026 and SSC MTS 2025-26.

According to the latest notification published on the official portal, ssc.gov.in, the commission has finalized the Computer-Based Examination (CBT) dates, providing a clear roadmap for candidates to streamline their final preparations.

SSC GD Constable 2026: Exam Starts February 23

The recruitment for 25,487 vacancies in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles has entered its most crucial phase. Following the conclusion of the application process on December 31, 2025, the SSC has confirmed that the SSC GD 2026 Exam will commence on February 23, 2026.

Key Highlights of the GD Exam:

  • Total Vacancies: 25,487 posts (Male: 23,467; Female: 2,020).
  • Exam Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of 80 questions for 160 marks.
  • Correction Window: Candidates who made errors in their forms can use the correction window from January 8 to January 10, 2026.
  • Admit Card: Expected to be released 4 to 7 days prior to the specific exam date of the candidate.

SSC MTS & Havaldar 2025-26: Exam Starts February 4

In a simultaneous update, the SSC has released the revised schedule for the Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Examination, 2025. Due to previous overlaps in the exam calendar, the MTS exams will now begin from February 4, 2026 onwards.

Self-Slot Selection Facility: In a student-friendly move, the SSC has introduced a self-slot booking window for MTS candidates. Starting from January 15, 2026, applicants can log in to the official website to choose their preferred exam date and shift on a first-come, first-served basis. If a candidate fails to book a slot, the commission will automatically allot one.

Revised Vacancy Details: The commission recently increased the total vacancies for the MTS recruitment to 7,948 posts, making it a golden opportunity for 10th-pass candidates.

Preparation Strategy & Important Instructions

With roughly a month left for both exams, experts suggest focusing on the following:

  1. Mock Tests: Regular practice of online CBT-style mocks is essential to manage the 60-minute (GD) and 90-minute (MTS) durations.
  2. Revision: Focus on General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, and Reasoning, as these sections often determine the merit list.
  3. Physical Standards: Candidates for GD and Havaldar posts should maintain their physical fitness, as the PST/PET rounds will follow the written results.
