
New Delhi | January 3, 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially cleared the air for millions of government job aspirants by releasing the much-awaited examination schedule for two of its biggest recruitment drives: SSC GD Constable 2026 and SSC MTS 2025-26.
According to the latest notification published on the official portal, ssc.gov.in, the commission has finalized the Computer-Based Examination (CBT) dates, providing a clear roadmap for candidates to streamline their final preparations.
The recruitment for 25,487 vacancies in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles has entered its most crucial phase. Following the conclusion of the application process on December 31, 2025, the SSC has confirmed that the SSC GD 2026 Exam will commence on February 23, 2026.
Key Highlights of the GD Exam:
In a simultaneous update, the SSC has released the revised schedule for the Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Examination, 2025. Due to previous overlaps in the exam calendar, the MTS exams will now begin from February 4, 2026 onwards.
Self-Slot Selection Facility: In a student-friendly move, the SSC has introduced a self-slot booking window for MTS candidates. Starting from January 15, 2026, applicants can log in to the official website to choose their preferred exam date and shift on a first-come, first-served basis. If a candidate fails to book a slot, the commission will automatically allot one.
Revised Vacancy Details: The commission recently increased the total vacancies for the MTS recruitment to 7,948 posts, making it a golden opportunity for 10th-pass candidates.
