New Delhi, June 29, 2026: An unusual slice of Bollywood gossip from over a decade ago has unexpectedly taken over social media. Rumors regarding a controversial on-set moment during the filming of the 2014 black comedy Revolver Rani went viral, forcing lead actors Vir Das and Kangana Ranaut to step forward and address the narrative publicly.

The speculation stemmed from an interview given by journalist Simi Chandoke on Siddharth Kannan’s popular podcast. During the episode, Chandoke claimed that during a passionate kissing scene in the film, Kangana Ranaut grew so intensely carried away that she ignored the director’s “cut” and continued the scene, allegedly biting Vir Das’s lip until it bled. She further alleged that the comedian was left deeply traumatized by the experience.

As the rumor gathered immense traction online, fans pressed Vir Das for his side of the story. Rather than ignoring the chatter, the Emmy-winning comedian took to X (formerly Twitter) on June 28, 2026, to firmly dismiss the entire narrative.

Das’s defense was notable not just for clearing the air, but for its blunt honesty regarding their complicated real-world relationship. His comment referenced a highly publicized 2021 rift where Ranaut had heavily criticized his viral stand-up monologue “I Come From Two Indias,” labeling it “soft terrorism” on social media. By defending her professionalism on set despite their subsequent political and personal ideological differences, Das effectively shut down any claims of lingering workplace misconduct.

Kangana Ranaut Slams the “Random” Accusations

Shortly after Vir Das posted his clarification, Kangana Ranaut—now an actor-politician—shared the post on her own timeline to hit back at the rumor-monger. True to her characteristically sharp style, she thanked Das while thoroughly mocking the bizarre nature of the viral report.

This is not the first time this particular piece of film-set lore has reared its head. A highly similar version of the “bleeding lips” story surfaced in 2023. At the time, Ranaut had brushed it off on her Instagram Stories with heavy sarcasm, writing, “After Hrithik Roshan, did I violate poor Vir Das’s honor? When did this happen?” accompanied by laughing emojis. However, Chandoke’s recent podcast appearance breathed new life into the old rumor, forcing a direct, unified shutdown from both actors.

Looking Back at Revolver Rani (2014)

Directed by Sai Kabir Shrivastav, Revolver Rani featured Kangana Ranaut as Alka Singh, a brash, aggressive, gun-toting political leader. Vir Das played Rohan Mehra, an ambitious, rising Bollywood star whom Alka falls obsessively in love with. The satirical crime drama was known for its dark humor and eccentric character dynamics, which likely made it easy ground for sensationalized rumors to grow over time.
