New Delhi, July 10, 2026: A sensational late-night shooting in the Naya Gaon area of Bahadurgarh town, Jhajjar district, has left a 29-year-old murder accused dead, sparking fears of an escalating gang war. The victim, identified as Neeraj alias Bandiya, was riddled with bullets by three unidentified bike-borne assailants just outside his home. The incident, which took place late Wednesday night, has prompted senior police officials to launch a massive investigation into organized crime links and personal animosities.
Indiscriminate Firing Follows Post-Dinner Walk
According to investigators, the attack occurred when Neeraj stepped outside his residence for a routine walk after dinner. He was catching some fresh air when three men on a single motorcycle approached him. Witnesses reported that without any verbal confrontation or warning, the trio pulled out firearms and opened indiscriminate fire at close range.
Despite sustaining multiple grievous gunshot wounds to his body, Neeraj made a desperate attempt to save his life. He managed to run nearly 50 meters down the street, trying to escape the barrage of bullets. However, due to severe blood loss and the impact of the injuries, he collapsed heavily on the road. The attackers quickly revved up their motorcycle and sped away from the crime scene, taking advantage of the nighttime darkness.
Hearing the sudden ring of gunfire, family members and local residents rushed out to find Neeraj bleeding heavily on the pavement. He was immediately picked up and rushed to a nearby hospital. However, the medical staff declared him brought dead upon arrival.
Heavy Criminal Record and Recent Bail
Preliminary police findings indicate that Neeraj had a long-standing history with law enforcement. Investigators confirmed that several criminal cases, including charges of murder and illegal liquor smuggling, had been registered against him over the past years.
Significantly, Neeraj had been released on bail approximately five months ago. He was an accused in a high-profile murder case registered in Delhi. Law enforcement officials suspect that his release from prison may have triggered anxieties or retaliatory motives among rival criminal factions operating in the Haryana-Delhi border region.
Top Brass Rush to Crime Scene; Special Teams Formed
The brazen nature of the murder in a residential area sent shockwaves through the locality, prompting a swift response from top police brass. Soon after receiving information about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mayank Mishra and DCP (Crime) Shubham Singh reached Naya Gaon alongside forensic experts and senior investigators.
Police teams immediately cordoned off the entire stretch where Neeraj was shot and where he subsequently collapsed. Forensic teams meticulously scoured the area, recovering empty cartridge casings and collecting biological evidence to identify the weapons used in the execution.
To track the path of the assailants, police have formed multiple special units. Investigators are currently gathering and scanning CCTV footage from cameras installed near the victim’s home, as well as along the entry and exit routes of the Naya Gaon neighborhood. Cyber cell units are also analyzing active mobile phone towers in the vicinity around the time of the shooting to trace suspicious, coordinated communication.
Multiple Angles Under the Scanner
While the Jhajjar police have not officially established a definitive motive behind the execution, they are actively examining several possibilities. Given Neeraj’s past associations, senior officials have noted that the killing bears all the hallmarks of a premeditated contract killing or a gang-land hit.
The primary lines of investigation currently include:
- Gang Warfare: Analyzing if the hit was ordered by associates of the victim from his Delhi murder case.
- Personal Rivalry: Reviewing old enmities stemming from his involvement in illegal liquor smuggling operations in Haryana.
- Retaliation: Investigating if any past victims or their family members sought street justice outside the legal system.
Local authorities expressed confidence that the suspects would be identified and apprehended soon through the combination of forensic data, digital surveillance, and human intelligence networks. No arrests have been officially made at the time of reporting, but multiple raids are reportedly being conducted across suspected hideouts in Jhajjar, Rohtak, and neighboring Delhi districts. Security has also been beefed up in the area to prevent any further retaliatory violence between rival factions.
