New Delhi, July 10, 2026 — In a deeply emotional appeal that has captured national attention, Vishal Agarwal, a prominent construction businessman from Pimpri-Chinchwad near Pune, has written a heartbreaking letter to President Droupadi Murmu. Describing his family as completely “shattered,” Agarwal has pleaded for a fast-tracked investigation and swift justice following the tragic death of his 26-year-old son, Ketan Agarwal. The family’s grief was compounded when Ketan’s grandfather passed away just 20 days later, unable to bear the shock of the young man’s sudden demise.
In an email addressed to the Secretary to the President, Vishal Agarwal clarified that he was not reaching out as an influential businessman, but purely as a grieving father. He requested that the case be transferred to a fast-track court to prevent standard legal delays from prolonging his family’s agonizing wait for closure.
A Double Tragedy for the Agarwal Family
The tragedy unfolded on June 18, 2026, when Ketan Agarwal died after falling into a 400-foot-deep gorge at the historic Lohagad Fort near Pune. Initially reported as a horrific trekking accident, a meticulous police investigation quickly uncovered a sinister conspiracy. Authorities revealed that Ketan had allegedly been pushed off the cliff by his 20-year-old fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her 22-year-old associate and alleged lover, Chetan Babulal Chaudhary.
The emotional fallout of the murder proved fatal for another member of the family. Ketan’s 83-year-old grandfather, Devichand Agarwal, who had recently participated in a local candle-light march demanding justice for his grandson, suffered severe emotional trauma. His health deteriorated rapidly following the incident, and he passed away in a private hospital.
From Wedding Planning to a Murder Investigation
The details surrounding Ketan’s death have sent shockwaves through the community. Ketan and Siya Goyal had been engaged since February, with a lavish destination wedding scheduled for November 2026 in Udaipur. The families had reportedly booked a historic palace in Jaipur for an estimated ₹17 crore and arranged private aircraft to transport their guests.
However, according to Pune Rural Police, Siya was deeply opposed to the marriage but chose a violent exit rather than calling off the alliance. On June 18, under the pretext of celebrating her birthday, Siya took Ketan on a trek to Lohagad Fort. Investigators allege that Chetan Chaudhary was called to the location as part of a pre-planned conspiracy. At around 10:30 AM, Siya alerted local authorities, claiming that Ketan had slipped and fallen while trying to take photographs. It took a grueling three-hour rescue operation to retrieve his body from the valley.
Suspicion arose when Ketan’s family, noting his familiarity with the terrain, questioned the circumstances of the fall. Subsequent technical analysis, data recovery from the suspects’ mobile phones, and witness statements led the Lonavala Rural Police to arrest both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary on charges of murder.
Seeking Fast-Track Justice
In his direct appeal to President Murmu, Vishal Agarwal emphasized that his family is not looking for special privileges because of their socioeconomic status, but simply wants a swift trial to prevent the case from stalling in the judicial system.
On Friday, a Pune court rejected the police’s request to extend the custodial remand of the accused, placing Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary into 14-day judicial custody. Meanwhile, the cyber forensics team of the Pune Rural Police successfully retrieved deleted chat logs and data from three mobile phones belonging to the accused, which investigators believe will establish a clear timeline of the conspiracy.
“We are not asking for any special treatment,” the father’s email read. “We only want this case to be heard in a fast-track court so that justice is delivered at the earliest. Delay in justice only increases the pain of families like ours. Please don’t let my son’s case become just another file. Behind this case is a family that has lost everything.”
