New Delhi, December 3, 2025: A chilling and remarkable video captured by locals in Kerala has become an instant viral sensation, documenting the sheer power of nature after a massive python was filmed struggling to move with a large deer visible inside its body. The rare sighting, which took place near a forest road, quickly drew a crowd before wildlife authorities were alerted.

The Discovery on the Meppadi Road

The sighting was reported to have occurred along the Kalladi-Aranamala road, a stretch that runs close to forested areas in the Wayanad district of Kerala. According to eyewitness accounts, the giant snake, identified as a large python species, was found near the roadside. Its massive midsection was heavily distended, clearly showing the large prey item that had just been consumed.

It was quickly ascertained by residents that a deer had been hunted and swallowed by the reptile on the edge of the road, likely drawn to the roadside area in search of prey. The enormous size of the meal meant that the python’s body was immobilized, preventing a swift retreat into the jungle. The scene was documented by several onlookers using their mobile phones, and these videos were subsequently shared widely across social media platforms, terrifying and fascinating viewers in equal measure.

Movement Impeded By Massive Meal

The captivating footage showcased the powerful, yet vulnerable, state of the snake immediately following the consumption of its enormous meal. It is well understood that after such a large feeding event, a python’s movement is severely limited; this is due to the sheer size and weight of the prey that must be accommodated within its body. The snake’s famously flexible jaws and ligaments, which allow such disproportionately large animals to be swallowed whole, were visibly stretched to their maximum capacity.

During this period, the python was seen slowly attempting to re-enter the forest cover. This lethargic movement is characteristic of pythons that have swallowed prey, as they enter a prolonged digestive state during which they are at their most vulnerable to predators or human disturbance. No injuries to local residents or commuters were reported during the event.

Forest Officials Urge Public Caution

Once the python was spotted and the spine-chilling videos were circulated, local Forest Department officials were immediately informed of the situation. Their arrival was expedited to ensure the safety of both the public and the protected reptile. Officials found that the snake was slowly making its way back toward the dense forest.

The public was subsequently urged by the Forest Department to refrain from approaching or disturbing wild animals that enter human settlements or appear in exposed areas. Such incidents are a potent reminder of the rich biodiversity that is protected in Kerala’s forest regions and the natural predatory dynamics that govern the wild.
