New Delhi, December 29, 2025: A significant crackdown on reckless driving was initiated by the Delhi Police this week following the wide circulation of a high-speed stunt video. On December 26, 2025, a group of young men was observed performing life-threatening manoeuvres on the city’s busy Ring Road. In the viral footage, multiple cars were seen swerving sharply and zigzagging through traffic during the late-night hours. Occupants were also observed standing out of sunroofs and windows, shouting as the vehicles sped from the ITO stretch towards Sarai Kale Khan and Noida, posing a grave risk to other motorists.

Swift Action and Vehicle Seizures

The investigation was launched immediately after the video surfaced on the social media platform X, drawing sharp criticism from the public regarding road safety. On December 29, 2025, it was confirmed by the authorities that five individuals had been arrested in connection with the incident. During the course of the crackdown, four vehicles allegedly used in the dangerous display were also recovered and seized by the police. The swift response from the Central Delhi Police has been viewed as a deterrent against the growing trend of performing stunts for social media “clout.”

Identification of the Accused

The apprehended individuals have been identified as Almas Arshad (20), Sarfaraj (26), Mohd Imran Qureshi (23), Mohd Shabbir (23), and Saad Abdullah (22). All five men are reported to be residents of Delhi. An FIR (First Information Report) was registered against them under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. The police stated that the group was successfully traced using technical surveillance and footage from CCTV cameras along the transit route.

Zero Tolerance for Reckless Behaviour

A senior police official emphasized that any act that endangers public safety for the sake of digital content will be met with strict legal action. It was noted that the zigzagging of cars at high speeds on a public highway could have easily led to fatal accidents involving innocent commuters. The Delhi Police have urged citizens to report such incidents immediately via the emergency number 112 or the traffic police app. This latest action is part of an intensified vigil being maintained across the National Capital as the year draws to a close.

Safety Measures for New Year’s Eve

As the city prepares for 2026, the arrest of the stuntmen serves as a stern warning to those planning similar celebrations. Over 20,000 personnel have been deployed to curb drunken driving and “hooliganism” on the roads. It was reiterated by the authorities that road safety guidelines are non-negotiable and that constant monitoring of viral trends is being carried out to ensure that offenders are brought to justice. The message remains clear: the city’s infrastructure is for safe transport, not for reckless entertainment.
