New Delhi, january 06, 2026: AMD has officially taken the center stage at CES 2026, unveiling a massive refresh of its processor lineup designed to cement its lead in the “AI PC” era. Led by CEO Dr. Lisa Su, the company announced the new Ryzen AI 400 series for laptops and the highly anticipated Ryzen 7 9850X3D for desktop gamers.

The Ryzen AI 400 Series: More “Brain” for Your Laptop

The star of the show for general users is the Ryzen AI 400 series (codenamed “Gorgon Point”). These processors are built for the next generation of Copilot+ PCs, focusing on multitasking, battery life, and high-speed AI processing.

Key features include:

  • Next-Gen NPU: The new XDNA 2 Neural Processing Unit (NPU) delivers up to 60 TOPS (Trillions of Operations Per Second) of AI performance. This surpasses the 40 TOPS requirement for Microsoft’s Copilot+ features, making these some of the most capable AI chips on the market.
  • Performance Gains: AMD claims these chips offer up to 29% faster multitasking and a staggering 71% boost in content creation workloads compared to competitors like Intel’s Core Ultra 200V series.
  • Integrated Graphics: Every chip in the lineup now features at least 4 RDNA 3.5 graphics cores, ensuring even entry-level laptops can handle light gaming and video editing without a dedicated GPU.

The lineup ranges from the budget-friendly Ryzen AI 5 430 (4 cores) to the flagship Ryzen AI 9 HX 475, which boasts 12 cores and a 5.2 GHz boost clock.

Gaming Royalty: The Ryzen 7 9850X3D

For the gaming community, AMD unveiled the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. Following the massive success of the 9800X3D, this new processor is being hailed as the “World’s Fastest Gaming CPU.”

By utilizing AMD’s signature 3D V-Cache technology, the 9850X3D stacks memory vertically to give the CPU instant access to more data. AMD reports an average 27% performance increase in gaming over Intel’s flagship Core Ultra 9 285K, with specific titles like Baldur’s Gate 3 seeing even more dramatic improvements.

For Creators: Ryzen AI Max+

AMD also expanded its Ryzen AI Max+ family, aimed at high-end creators and mobile workstations. These chips, such as the Max+ 392, utilize a unique “shared memory” design similar to Apple’s M-series chips. This allows the built-in GPU to access a massive pool of high-speed memory, providing enough power for heavy 3D rendering and professional video editing in ultra-thin laptops that previously required bulky power bricks.

Why This Matters

CES 2026 has made it clear: the “AI PC” is no longer a futuristic concept but the new standard. By boosting AI speeds to 60 TOPS and refining their gaming silicon, AMD is positioning itself as the go-to choice for both office productivity and hardcore enthusiasts.

Laptops featuring the Ryzen AI 400 series are expected to hit shelves in Q1 2026, with partners like ASUS, HP, and Lenovo already showcasing new designs on the show floor.
