New Delhi, january 20, 2026: A tragic incident has cast a shadow over the debut of the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Thailand 2026 in Phuket. A 28-year-old Indian national, identified as Jain Saksham, died under mysterious circumstances during the early hours of Sunday, January 18, 2026.
The incident unfolded during the final weekend of the high-energy music festival held at the Boat Avenue Lakefront in Cherng Talay. According to local police reports, Saksham had been attending the event when witnesses noticed him exhibiting erratic and delirious behavior shortly after leaving the festival grounds.
Reports from the Phuket authorities state that the young man appeared heavily disoriented. He allegedly damaged property along Bandon-Choeng Thale Road, including climbing onto the back of a resident’s pickup truck to dance in an agitated state. By the time emergency responders arrived at the scene, Saksham had lost consciousness.
Saksham was rushed by ambulance to Thalang Hospital at approximately 3:15 AM. Medical staff reported that he was in a state of shock upon arrival. Despite emergency resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after admission.
Initial physical examinations have deepened the mystery:
The death has sparked a conversation regarding safety protocols at large-scale international festivals in Thailand. Interestingly, this is not the first time EDC Thailand has faced such tragedy; similar reports of “mysterious” deaths occurred during the previous year’s event in 2025 involving North American tourists, where drug-related complications were suspected.
Thai authorities and the Indian Embassy are currently coordinating to notify Saksham’s family and arrange for the repatriation of his remains once the forensic investigation concludes.
