March 7, 2026 — The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli, recognized as an Institute of National Importance, has officially launched its premier faculty recruitment drive for the year 2026. The institute is seeking to fill 122 faculty positions across various academic departments, inviting applications from qualified Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs).

Key Eligibility Criteria
Aspiring candidates must meet the stringent academic requirements set by the NIT Council and the Ministry of Education.
Educational Qualification: A Ph.D. in the relevant discipline is mandatory for all faculty positions.
Academic Record: Candidates must have a consistently excellent academic record throughout their career.
Experience & Credits: Selection will be based on the “Credit Point System” as per the modified recruitment rules for NITs (2017 and 2023 amendments). This includes points for research publications in reputed journals, sponsored projects, and teaching experience.
Age Limit: For Assistant Professor (Grade-II) at Pay Level 10, the preferable age limit is 35 years for the Unreserved category, with relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates as per Government of India norms.

Online Registration: Candidates must register and fill out the application form on the official NIT Trichy recruitment portal (Samarth Portal) via www.nitt.edu.
Fee Payment: An application fee of ₹1,000 is applicable for General, OBC, and EWS candidates. Women, SC, ST, and PwD candidates are exempted from the fee.
Hardcopy Dispatch: After successful online submission, candidates must download the PDF and send it along with self-attested copies of all supporting documents (qualifications, experience, and research credentials) to:The Registrar, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli – 620015, Tamil Nadu.
The envelope should be clearly superscribed with the Form ID, Post Applied for, and the Department.
Selection Process
The selection process involves a multi-stage screening. Initial shortlisting will be based on academic credentials and credit points. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited for a Seminar/Demonstration and a final Personal Interview.
