March 18, 2026 – In a stunning display of devotion, the Shri Sanvariya Seth Temple has once again made national headlines. As the temple treasury (Bhandar) was opened for the latest round of counting in March 2026, the total collection crossed an unprecedented mark, solidifying its position as one of the wealthiest and most visited religious sites in India.

The ‘Digital and Physical’ Rain of Wealth

According to the Temple Board officials, the counting process, which spanned several days under high-security surveillance, revealed a collection exceeding ₹46 crore. This figure includes:

  • Currency Notes: Approximately ₹36.5 crore in cash.
  • Gold and Silver: Over 3 kilograms of gold and 152 kilograms of silver ornaments and bars.
  • Online Contributions: A significant rise in UPI and international bank transfers, totaling nearly ₹10 crore.

The Divine Business Partner: A Unique Tradition

What sets Sanvariya Seth apart from other temples is the unique relationship the devotees share with the deity. Lord Krishna here is worshipped as “Sanvariya Seth” (The Dark Merchant Prince).

Thousands of businessmen, farmers, and entrepreneurs across India consider the Lord their “Business Partner.” It is a common practice for devotees to pledge a percentage of their annual profits to the temple. This tradition of “partnership” is the primary reason why the temple sees such massive quantities of high-value donations, as devotees believe their prosperity is a direct result of the Lord’s blessings.

Historical Significance: The Legend of the Three Idols

The history of the temple dates back to the year 1840. According to local folklore, a milkman named Bholaram Gurjar had a recurring dream about three divine idols buried underground in the Bagund-Bhadsora plains.

Upon excavation, three identical black stone (Shila) statues of Lord Krishna were discovered.

  1. The largest idol was installed at Mandaphia, which is the current Sanvariya Seth Temple.
  2. The second was placed at Bhadsora.
  3. The third was installed at Bagund.

It is widely believed that these idols are the same ones once worshipped by the legendary poet-saint Meera Bai.

Infrastructure Overhaul for 2026

With the footfall expected to cross 5 million devotees annually, the Rajasthan state government and the Temple Trust have initiated several upgrades:

  • Smart Queue Management: To reduce waiting times during peak festivals like Jal Jhulni Ekadashi.
  • New Mega-Kitchen: A state-of-the-art community kitchen (Bhojanalaya) capable of serving free meals to over 50,000 people daily.
  • Eco-Friendly Corridor: A lush green pathway connecting the main highway to the temple entrance to provide shade and comfort to walking pilgrims.

Traveler’s Corner: How to Reach

The temple is conveniently located about 40 km from Chittorgarh and 80 km from Udaipur. The nearest airport is Maharana Pratap Airport (Udaipur), and the region is well-connected by premium train services including the Vande Bharat Express.
