March 19, 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is set to announce the results for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 today, March 19, 2026. Thousands of aspirants across the country who appeared for the exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15 are waiting for the final qualifying status. Ahead of the result declaration, the GATE 2026 Final Answer Key has already been released on the official GOAPS portal.

How to Check GATE 2026 Result

Follow these steps to view your performance:

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to gate2026.iitg.ac.in or the GOAPS portal.
  2. Login: Enter your Enrollment ID or registered Email Address and Password.
  3. Submit Details: Complete the captcha and click on ‘Login’.
  4. View Result: Click on the ‘Results’ tab to see your marks out of 100, GATE Score (out of 1000), and All India Rank.
  5. Download: Save a digital copy of your result page for immediate reference.

GATE 2026 Expected Cutoff (Branch-wise)

While the official cutoff will be released alongside the results, initial analysis of the paper difficulty suggests the following qualifying marks for the General Category:

Toppers List and Performance Trends

The GATE 2026 Toppers List will be published shortly after the result link is activated. In previous years, toppers in major branches like Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering have consistently scored between 85 and 100 marks.

This year, the Electrical Engineering (EE) paper was reported to be “Difficult,” which may lead to a slightly lower cutoff compared to last year. Conversely, the Data Science and AI (DA) paper saw a record number of applicants, making it one of the most competitive subjects this session.

GATE 2026 Scorecard: Key Dates

It is important to distinguish between the Result and the Scorecard.

  • Result (March 19): Shows your marks and qualifying status.
  • Scorecard Download (March 27 – May 31): The official document required for M.Tech admissions and PSU recruitment.

Qualified candidates can download their scorecards free of charge from the GOAPS portal starting March 27, 2026. After May 31, a fee of ₹500 per paper will be charged for downloading the scorecard until December 31, 2026.

Validity and Career Opportunities

The GATE 2026 score will remain valid for three years (until March 2029). Candidates can use this score for:

  • Direct Recruitment in Navratna and Maharatna PSUs (e.g., ONGC, NTPC, IOCL, GAIL).
  • Postgraduate Admissions (M.E./M.Tech/Ph.D.) via COAP (for IITs) and CCMT (for NITs/IIITs).
