The selection process for Junior Engineers in Haryana is primarily based on a written OMR-based examination. For 2026, the commission has maintained a structure that heavily weights the candidate’s core engineering knowledge.

1. Technical Subjects (70% Weightage)

The syllabus for this section is based on the Diploma/Degree level of the respective engineering stream.

  • Civil Engineering: Building Materials, Surveying, Soil Mechanics & Foundation Engineering, Hydraulics, Environmental Engineering, Structural Analysis, RCC & Steel Design, and Highway Engineering.
  • Electrical Engineering: Basic Electrical Concepts, Circuit Law, Magnetic Circuits, AC Fundamentals, Electrical Machines (DC & AC), Generation, Transmission & Distribution, and Basic Electronics.
  • Mechanical Engineering: Theory of Machines, Machine Design, Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, IC Engines, and Manufacturing Technology.

2. General Awareness, Reasoning & Haryana GK (20% Weightage)

  • Haryana Special: History, Current Affairs, Literature, Geography, Civics, Environment, and Culture of Haryana.
  • General Awareness: Indian Constitution, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, and General Policy.
  • Reasoning: Analogies, Similarities and Differences, Spatial Visualization, Arithmetical Reasoning, and Relationship concepts.

Selection Criteria & Socio-Economic Marks

The final merit list is prepared by combining the marks of the Written Exam and Socio-Economic Criteria.

  • Written Exam: 97.5% weightage.
  • Socio-Economic Criteria & Experience: 2.5% weightage.

To qualify, General category candidates must score a minimum of 50%, while reserved category candidates (Haryana Domicile) require 40%.
