New Delhi, March 31, 2026: As we move further into 2026, the tech world is buzzing with anticipation for Apple’s next flagship release. While the iPhone 17 series made waves with its refined design, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to push the boundaries of performance and aesthetics even further. From a more immersive display to a revolutionary new chipset, here is a comprehensive look at what to expect from the iPhone 18 Pro series.

Design and New Colour Palette

Apple is reportedly planning a shift in its design philosophy this year. While the premium aluminium unibody construction—reintroduced with the previous generation—is expected to stay, the visual execution might see a change. Leaks suggest that Apple will move away from the dual-tone back glass in favor of a unified single-tone finish, giving the device a more seamless and sophisticated appearance.

The colour options are always a major talking point. This year, “Titanium” shades may take a backseat to more vibrant yet deep tones. Rumoured colours for the iPhone 18 Pro include:

  • Burgundy / Deep Red: A rich, wine-inspired shade that is currently generating the most excitement.
  • Dark Purple: A return to a fan-favourite deep hue.
  • Coffee Brown: A new, earthy premium tone.
  • Classic Silver and Grey: To satisfy those who prefer a traditional professional look.

Display: A Shrinking Dynamic Island

The most noticeable change on the front of the device will likely be the evolution of the Dynamic Island. Supply chain reports indicate that Apple has made significant progress in placing Face ID components beneath the display.

This breakthrough could allow the Dynamic Island to shrink by approximately 35%, resulting in a much smaller pill-shaped cutout. While a completely “all-screen” iPhone is still a few years away, the iPhone 18 Pro will offer more usable screen real estate than any predecessor. Screen sizes are expected to remain consistent with the current lineup: 6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max, both featuring LTPO OLED panels with 120Hz ProMotion technology.

Performance: The 2nm A20 Pro Chip

Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro is set to be a powerhouse. It is widely expected to debut the A20 Pro chipset, which will likely be manufactured using TSMC’s cutting-edge 2-nanometre (2nm) process.

This architectural shift is projected to deliver:

  • 15% faster processing speeds compared to the A19 Pro.
  • 30% better energy efficiency, which will significantly extend battery life.
  • Enhanced Neural Engine capabilities to support more complex, on-device Artificial Intelligence (AI) tasks.

Camera Innovations: Variable Aperture

Photography remains the cornerstone of the Pro experience. While the triple 48MP sensor setup (Main, Ultrawide, and Telephoto) is expected to return, the hardware is getting a mechanical upgrade.

Apple is rumoured to introduce a variable aperture on the primary lens. This would allow the camera to physically adjust the amount of light hitting the sensor, providing professional-level control over depth of field (bokeh) and vastly improving low-light performance. Additionally, a new stacked sensor design could help reduce image noise in challenging environments.

Expected Price and Launch Timeline

Apple is expected to stick to its traditional September 2026 launch window for the Pro models. Interestingly, rumours suggest the standard iPhone 18 might be delayed until early 2027 to give the Pro series and the rumoured “iPhone Fold” more spotlight during the autumn event.

In terms of pricing, Apple may aim to keep the starting prices stable despite rising component costs.

  • iPhone 18 Pro: Expected to start at ₹1,34,900 / $999.
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max: Expected to start at ₹1,49,900 / $1,199.

With these upgrades, the iPhone 18 Pro series is shaping up to be a significant leap forward, particularly for users focused on mobile photography and peak processing performance.
