New Delhi, July 13, 2026: In a warm show of solidarity within Andhra Pradesh’s ruling alliance, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu traveled to Mumbai on Sunday to visit his Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief, Pawan Kalyan. The popular actor-turned-politician is currently recovering at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute following a major, three-and-a-half-hour surgery on his right shoulder to repair a severe, long-standing rotator cuff injury.
Accompanying the Chief Minister were state ministers P. Narayana, Anagani Satya Prasad, Nadendla Manohar, and MP Lingamaneni Ramesh. Upon arrival, CM Naidu interacted closely with Pawan Kalyan, his wife Anna Konidala, and the medical team overseeing the treatment. The visit highlighted not only the administrative partnership but also the deep personal camaraderie between the two top leaders of the state.
CM Naidu Assures Fans of a Smooth Recovery
Speaking to members of the media after stepping out of the hospital, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu shared positive updates regarding the Deputy CM’s health. He assured millions of anxious fans and political followers that the operation went smoothly and that Pawan Kalyan is recovering remarkably well.
The Chief Minister also offered a poignant reflection on how the injury came to be, pointing directly to the actor-politician’s selfless dedication to the public. “He always wants to help people and is an incredible crowd puller. Whenever he goes out among the masses, he completely forgets about himself and his own physical limitations. Massive crowds gather, there is intense pushing, pulling, and pressure from all sides. Because of this physical strain over a prolonged period, he developed this severe problem. It is not a recent injury; he has been silently suffering and enduring this pain for many days before finally coming here for surgery,” Naidu added.
The Medical Bulletins: Understanding the Injury
According to the official medical bulletin released by the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Pawan Kalyan was diagnosed with a complex right shoulder rotator cuff injury. The medical team, led by renowned specialist Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala (Director of Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service), detailed that the condition involved an extensive tear of both the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons. Additionally, the heavy strain had caused an associated avulsion fracture of the greater tuberosity.
The surgery, performed via an advanced arthroscopic approach, was highly successful and uneventful. Medical professionals noted that the primary goal was to structurally repair the torn tendons and stabilize the joint. While the right shoulder has been successfully operated on, the medical team also evaluated Pawan Kalyan’s left shoulder, which exhibits similar wear and tear.
To prevent post-operative pain from becoming unmanageable, the doctors explicitly advised against operating on both shoulders simultaneously. The medical plan dictates that the left shoulder will be closely monitored. A thorough reassessment will be conducted after a few months to decide whether a second surgery is required or if it can be successfully managed through focused physiotherapy alone.
A Decade-Long Battle with Chronic Pain
Official sources from the Deputy Chief Minister’s office revealed that Pawan Kalyan’s battle with shoulder pain actually dates back nearly a decade to 2016. Despite early medical warnings and advice to take ample rest, his relentless commitment to his political movement took precedence.
The injury dramatically worsened over the years during high-intensity public campaigns. During the intense Praja Porata Yatra in 2018 and the subsequent Varahi Yatra, enthusiastic supporters and emotional party cadres would frequently surge forward to get close to their leader, often pulling at his arms and shaking his hands with immense force. The physical toll grew even heavier during his extensive tours of the Rayalaseema region. Driven by his vision for the state, the JSP chief continuously pushed through the excruciating discomfort, choosing to fulfill his administrative and public duties rather than stepping away for medical leave.
It was only after completing a rigorous schedule of pre-planned state government responsibilities that he finally agreed to take a brief hiatus to address the underlying medical emergency.
Rest Advised, But the Leader is Eager to Return
Even as he recuperates in his hospital bed, those close to the leader say his mind remains firmly fixed on the welfare of Andhra Pradesh. CM Naidu humorously noted that despite strict directives from the medical staff to take a back seat and focus purely on healing, Pawan Kalyan expressed a strong desire to return to his office and public life immediately.
For now, the actor-politician will remain under close medical observation in Mumbai before being discharged. Experts project that a full recovery of his total shoulder function will take approximately four months, heavily reliant on a disciplined rehabilitation programme.
On the cinematic front, Pawan Kalyan continues to maintain his massive star power, with his most recent highly-anticipated release, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, hitting theaters earlier this year to roaring success. As messages wishing him a speedy recovery flood social media platforms from political leaders, film industry colleagues, and millions of “Power Star” fans, the state waits to welcome back its resilient Deputy Chief Minister.
