In a significant stride towards sustainable mobility, Mahindra has launched its highly anticipated all-electric coupe SUV, the XEV 9e, offering a compelling entry point into the electric vehicle (EV) market. With an attractive down payment option starting from just ₹ 2.30 lakh, Mahindra aims to make its cutting-edge EV technology accessible to a wider range of Indian consumers, spearheading the nation’s electric revolution.

The Mahindra XEV 9e, built on the company’s advanced INGLO platform, promises a blend of futuristic design, premium features, and impressive performance. Launched in November 2024, the XEV 9e is available in multiple variants and battery options, catering to diverse needs and budgets. The base model, “Pack One,” starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹ 21.90 lakh, while the top-end “Pack Three” with a larger 79 kWh battery is priced at ₹ 30.50 lakh.

Key Highlights of the Mahindra XEV 9e:

  • Stunning Design: The XEV 9e boasts a contemporary coupe-SUV silhouette with striking LED lighting signatures, flared wheel arches, and an overall aerodynamic profile, ensuring a head-turning presence on Indian roads.
  • Luxurious Interiors: The cabin is equipped with a sophisticated triple-screen setup, featuring a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a co-passenger display. Premium materials, a panoramic sunroof, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos elevate the in-car experience.
  • Impressive Performance and Range: The XEV 9e comes with two battery options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The latter offers a claimed MIDC range of up to 656 km on a single charge. The electric motors deliver power outputs ranging from 228 bhp to 282 bhp, with a torque of 380 Nm in both configurations, enabling brisk acceleration.
  • Advanced Technology: The EV is loaded with features such as Level 2+ ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), a 360-degree surround-view camera, wireless phone charging, a heads-up display, and wireless connectivity. Notably, it also offers an in-car camera for video calls and selfies, along with a driver monitoring system.
  • Fast Charging Capability: The XEV 9e supports DC fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a 175 kW charger. AC charging options of 7.3 kW and 11.2 kW are also available for home charging.
  • Safety First: The entire XEV 9e range is equipped with essential safety features, including ABS with EBD, traction control, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Higher variants also benefit from up to seven airbags.

Making EV Ownership Accessible:

Mahindra’s strategic move to offer the XEV 9e with a down payment as low as ₹ 2.30 lakh (amount may vary based on the specific variant and financing scheme) aims to break down the initial cost barrier often associated with electric vehicles. This initiative is expected to attract a wider customer base, including those who are considering upgrading to an EV but are hesitant due to the upfront investment.

Several financial institutions in India are also offering attractive loan options for electric vehicles, often with benefits like lower interest rates and higher loan-to-value ratios to encourage the adoption of green mobility. Potential buyers are advised to explore these financing options to make their transition to electric driving even more affordable.

Mahindra’s Commitment to Electrification:

The XEV 9e is a key model in Mahindra’s ambitious electric vehicle lineup. The company has also launched the BE 6, another electric SUV built on the INGLO platform, and already offers the XUV400 EV in the Indian market. Mahindra has further showcased its commitment to the EV segment with concepts like the Thar.e and plans to electrify popular models like the Scorpio and Bolero in the future.

With the XEV 9e, Mahindra is not just offering an electric car; it’s presenting an opportunity to be part of a transformative shift towards a cleaner and more sustainable future of transportation. The accessible down payment scheme is a significant step in democratizing EV ownership and accelerating India’s journey into the electric revolution. Bookings for the Mahindra XEV 9e are currently open, and deliveries have already commenced for select variants.
