The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has officially announced the final results of the State Services Examination 2023, bringing to a close a rigorous recruitment process that spanned over a year. The most inspiring news comes from Panna district, where Ajit Kumar Mishra secured the coveted Rank 1, earning him a selection for the prestigious post of Deputy Collector.

A Story of Perseverance and Success

Ajit Kumar Mishra’s achievement is a testament to perseverance, especially given his background. Hailing from a modest farming family in the village of Maharampur in Panna, his journey was marked by initial financial struggles in pursuing his education. However, Mishra managed to overcome these hurdles by consistently securing scholarships, which provided the necessary support for his studies and competitive exam coaching.

Mishra secured an impressive overall score of 966 marks out of 1,575. This total includes a strong performance in the main written exam (821 out of 1,400 marks) and an excellent showing in the interview round (145 out of 175 marks).

Experienced in Public Service

This is not the first time Ajit Kumar Mishra has achieved success in the state civil services. The Rank 1 holder was previously serving as a Naib Tehsildar in Maihar. Furthermore, he was also selected for the post of Assistant Director of Finance in the 2024 examination cycle. His selection as Deputy Collector is the culmination of his fourth attempt at the MPPSC State Services Exam, showcasing his unwavering determination to achieve the highest administrative position.

Exam Timeline and Top Performers

The MPPSC State Service Examination 2023 was conducted to fill 229 vacancies across various state departments, with 197 candidates successfully selected in the final merit list. The multi-stage process included:

  • Preliminary Examination: Held on December 17, 2023.
  • Main Examination: Conducted from March 11 to 16, 2024.
  • Interview/Personality Test: Held between July 7 and August 7, 2025.
  • Final Result: Declared on November 8, 2025.

Advice for Future Aspirants

In his message to aspiring candidates, Mishra emphasized the importance of sharp focus on academics and maintaining a rigorous study schedule of at least 8–10 hours daily. He also advised aspirants to minimize the use of social media and mobile phones, stressing that they should only be used when absolutely necessary to avoid distractions.

The final result also highlighted the remarkable success of women candidates, particularly in the police service. Out of the 19 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) posts, women secured 13 positions through open merit, an impressive feat as only six were reserved for them.
