JEE Main 2026 Session 2: NTA Announces Dates for Answer Key

New Delhi, April 9, 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially concluded the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Session 2 and has now shifted focus toward the evaluation process. Following the successful conduct of the exams between April 2 and April 8, 2026, the NTA has released a schedule for the provisional answer key, the objection window, and the final result declaration.

Millions of engineering aspirants across the country are now awaiting their scores, which will determine their eligibility for JEE Advanced 2026 and admissions into prestigious institutions like NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

According to the official press release from the NTA, the following timeline has been established for the post-exam activities:

Provisional Answer Key and Challenge Window

The NTA is set to release the provisional answer key and candidate response sheets on April 11, 2026. This is a critical phase for students, as it allows them to cross-verify their marked responses with the official answers.

Note to Candidates: If you find a discrepancy in the provisional key, you can raise an objection through the official portal. A non-refundable processing fee of ₹200 per question challenged is typically required. The NTA’s subject experts will review all challenges before releasing the final answer key.

How to Check JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Results

Once declared on or before April 20, candidates can access their scorecards by following these steps:

1. Visit the official JEE Main website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.
2. Click on the link titled “JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Scorecard”.
3. Enter your Application Number and Date of Birth/Password.
4. Input the Security Pin (CAPTCHA) and click Submit.
5. Your result, including your NTA percentile and All India Rank (AIR), will be displayed.

Final Ranking and Percentile Calculation

The Session 2 result is particularly significant because it will include the All India Ranks (AIR). For candidates who appeared in both the January (Session 1) and April (Session 2) exams, the NTA will consider the best of the two NTA scores to prepare the final merit list.

The normalization process will be used to ensure that the difficulty levels of different shifts do not disadvantage any student. The results will also specify the category-wise cut-off marks required to qualify for JEE Advanced, which is scheduled to be conducted by IIT Roorkee on May 17, 2026.

What After the Results?

Immediately following the result declaration, the top 2,50,000 qualifiers will be eligible to register for the JEE Advanced. Registration for Indian nationals is expected to begin on April 23, 2026. For those not appearing for JEE Advanced, the next step will be the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling process, which facilitates admissions into NITs and other technical colleges based on JEE Main ranks.
