New Delhi, January 30, 2026 – The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially released the results for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2025 session. The results, announced late evening on January 29, 2026, bring a mix of relief and renewed focus for thousands of Indian medical graduates who studied abroad.

The screening test, which was conducted in a computer-based format on January 17, 2026, serves as a mandatory gateway for foreign graduates to obtain a provisional or permanent registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Councils to practice medicine in India.

Key Highlights of the Result

This session witnessed a notable improvement in the success rate compared to the previous June 2025 cycle.

  • Total Candidates Appeared: 42,872
  • Total Candidates Qualified: 10,264
  • Pass Percentage: 23.9%
  • Results Withheld: 4 (pending further verification or clarification)

While the pass percentage remains lower than many other professional exams, the jump from the June session’s 18.6% indicates a positive trend in candidate preparation and adaptation to the increasingly clinical nature of the exam.

How to Access Your Result

Candidates can now download the result PDF directly from the official NBEMS websites: natboard.edu.in or nbe.edu.in.

  1. Download the PDF: The result is published as a list of roll numbers. You do not need a login to view this file.
  2. Find Your Roll Number: Use the search function (Ctrl + F) to quickly find your qualifying status.
  3. Qualifying Criteria: As per NBEMS guidelines, candidates must score a minimum of 150 out of 300 marks to be declared “Pass.” There is no negative marking in the FMGE.

What’s Next for Successful Candidates?

Passing the FMGE is the first major hurdle. Qualified candidates must now prepare for the following steps:

  • In-Person Verification: The NBEMS will release a separate schedule for the “In-Person” distribution of FMGE Pass Certificates. Candidates must present original documents, including their primary medical qualification degree and passport.
  • Provisional Registration: Once the pass certificate is obtained, graduates can apply for provisional registration to begin their mandatory one-year internship in India.
  • Individual Scorecards: Ensure you download and save your scorecard between February 6 and the six-month expiry date.

A Challenging Road Ahead

Despite the rise in the pass rate, the FMGE remains one of India’s toughest licensing exams. Experts note that the 2026 paper continued the shift toward application-based clinical questions, moving away from rote memorization. For those who did not qualify this time, the next session is tentatively expected in June 2026, with registrations likely opening in April.
