New Delhi, April 9, 2026: The National Informatics Centre (NIC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has officially invited applications for the direct recruitment of Scientist-C and Scientist-D positions. The total 153 vacancies are distributed across two primary scientific grades. These roles offer high-level pay scales as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).

Eligibility Criteria & Experience

NIC is seeking highly qualified professionals with specific academic backgrounds and relevant field experience.

1. Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess a degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech), Technology (M.E./M.Tech), or relevant Science disciplines (M.Sc, MCA, M.Phil).

• Eligible Fields: Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Data Communication, Statistics, and Mathematics.
• Equivalencies: DOEACC ‘B’ Level or Associate Member of Institute of Engineers (AMIE) are also accepted.

2. Experience Requirements

• Scientist-C: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in research, development, or technical roles.
• Scientist-D: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience. A PhD is considered desirable for this level.
• Relaxation: Candidates with advanced degrees like M.Tech or M.Phil may be eligible for a 2-year relaxation in the experience requirement.

3. Age Limit (as of April 30, 2026)

• Scientist-C: Maximum 35 years.
• Scientist-D: Maximum 40 years.
• Age relaxation is provided to reserved categories and service candidates as per government rules.

Selection Process

The selection for these senior technical roles follows a rigorous three-stage process:

1. Screening Test: A preliminary examination to shortlist candidates (qualifying in nature).
2. Academic Evaluation: Assessment of the candidate’s academic record and professional achievements.
3. Personal Interaction/Interview: Final evaluation of technical competence and suitability for the role.
