New Delhi, November 22, 2025: The State Bank of India (SBI) successfully conducted the Mains examination for the recruitment of Junior Associates (Customer Support and Sales) on November 21, 2025. This crucial stage determines the final selection for thousands of banking aspirants who qualified in the preliminary exam. Based on early feedback and detailed analysis from candidates, the overall difficulty level of the Mains paper was generally assessed as Moderate.

Exam Difficulty and Sectional Review

The SBI Clerk Mains exam consisted of 190 questions across four sections, totaling 200 marks. Here is a section-wise breakdown:

  • Quantitative Aptitude (Moderate): This section was considered moderate and lengthy, primarily due to several sets of Data Interpretation (DI), including Bar Graphs, Tabular DI, and Caselets, along with a mix of arithmetic word problems. Careful calculation and time management were key to scoring well.
  • Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude (Moderate to Difficult): This section proved to be the most time-consuming. It was dominated by a large number of questions on Puzzles and Seating Arrangements (e.g., Designation-based, Box-based, Triangle+Instrument puzzles). The Computer Aptitude component was relatively easier, focusing on basic concepts like input-output and shortcuts.
  • General/Financial Awareness (Moderate and Scoring): For well-prepared candidates, this section was manageable and a potential score-booster. Questions covered a blend of Current Affairs, Banking Awareness, RBI updates, and government schemes.
  • General English (Easy to Moderate): Generally, this section was viewed as the easiest compared to the others. It included two Reading Comprehension passages and standard topics like Error Detection, Word Usage, Para Jumbles, and Fillers.

The overall consensus suggests that the paper was balanced but slightly lengthy, making selective attempts and maintaining accuracy vital for a competitive score.

Good Attempts and Expected Cut-Off

Based on the overall difficulty level and candidate feedback, the estimated range for Good Attempts in the examination is approximately 78 to 104 out of 190 questions. These are the attempts that offer a strong chance of clearing the cut-off.

The official cut-off marks are determined by factors like the total number of vacancies (6589 for this cycle), the number of candidates who appeared, and the difficulty level of the paper. Since the cut-off is released state-wise and category-wise, there will be variations across regions.

Expected Cut-Off Ranges (Out of 200)

While the official cut-offs will be announced with the result, experts predict the following expected cut-off ranges for the General category across a few major states, based on the moderate difficulty of the paper:

State/UTExpected Cut-off Range (General Category)
Delhi82.50 to 85.50
Uttar Pradesh80.50 to 83.50
Rajasthan82.00 to 85.00
West Bengal81.00 to 84.00
Maharashtra78.00 to 81.00
Gujarat75.00 to 78.00
Tamil Nadu85.00 to 88.00
Haryana83.00 to 86.00

Candidates should note that these figures are only expert estimations and the actual cut-off may vary.

Next Steps

Candidates who appeared for the exam should now patiently wait for the official results and cut-off list, which are typically released on the official SBI website (sbi.co.in) a few weeks after the examination. The process of selection hinges entirely on clearing the Mains cut-off, as there is no interview stage for the Junior Associate post.
