New Delhi, March 19, 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released its revised annual examination calendar for the 2026-2027 recruitment cycle. This comprehensive schedule provides essential timelines for some of India’s most sought-after government examinations, including the Combined Graduate Level (CGL), Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL), and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS).
Aspirants planning to secure a position in various central government ministries and departments can now align their preparation with the official notification and examination windows.
The newly published calendar outlines the tentative months for advertisements, application closing dates, and the periods during which computer-based examinations (CBE) will be conducted.
The CGL exam remains the premier recruitment drive for Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ posts.
Targeted at candidates who have completed their higher secondary education, the CHSL exam recruits for positions such as LDC, JSA, and DEO.
This national-level exam is conducted for matriculate candidates seeking entry-level government roles.
Apart from the major three, the commission has also scheduled several other departmental and specialized recruitment exams:
| Examination Name | Notification Date | Exam Month (Tentative) |
| Selection Post Phase-XIV | March 31, 2026 | May – July 2026 |
| Junior Engineer (Civil, Mech, Elec) | March 31, 2026 | May – June 2026 |
| Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ | April 30, 2026 | August – September 2026 |
| JHT (Hindi Translator) | April 30, 2026 | August – September 2026 |
| Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police & CAPF | May 31, 2026 | October – November 2026 |
| Constable (GD) in CAPFs/NIA/SSF | September 30, 2026 | January – March 2027 |
Candidates are encouraged to download the formal document directly from the commission’s portal to stay updated on any potential shifts in the timeline.
With the dates now public, experts suggest a structured approach to the Tier-I exams, which typically focus on General Intelligence, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension, and General Awareness. Since most Tier-I exams for the 2026 cycle are scheduled for the middle of the year, candidates have a crucial window to finalize their syllabus and begin intensive mock test sessions.
