Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualifications

The eligibility requirements vary significantly depending on the specialized nature of each post:

  • Assistant Librarian: Candidates must possess a Degree in Law (LLB) along with a Diploma or Degree in Library Science. Alternatively, a Degree in Library Science with five years of relevant experience is also acceptable.
  • Translator: A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with Hindi and English as subjects is mandatory. Applicants must have also studied both languages at the 10+2 level.
  • Assistant Review Officer (ARO): A simple Bachelor’s degree is required, but candidates must demonstrate a typing speed of 9,000 key depressions per hour in English.
  • Typist: A Bachelor’s degree is necessary, complemented by an English typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.

2. Age Limit (as of July 1, 2025)

Applicants must be between 21 and 42 years of age. Reserved categories, including SC, ST, and OBC of Uttarakhand, are eligible for age relaxations as per state government norms.

Selection Process

The selection journey is rigorous, ensuring only the most competent candidates are inducted. It generally follows a three-tier structure:

  1. Preliminary Examination: An objective-type screening test covering General Science, Current Affairs, Indian History, Geography, and the Constitution of India, with a special focus on the history and culture of Uttarakhand.
  2. Main Examination: Descriptive papers focusing on language proficiency (English and Hindi) and subject-specific knowledge (e.g., Translation techniques for Translators or Library Theory for Librarians).
