A Look at the Vacancy Details

This massive recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 4,543 Sub-Inspector and equivalent positions across various wings of the Uttar Pradesh Police. The post-wise breakdown is as follows:

  • Sub Inspector (Civil Police): 4,242 Posts (Male/Female)
  • SI Platoon Commander (PAC): 135 Posts
  • Sub Inspector (Special Security Force): 60 Posts
  • Women Sub-Inspector (Women Battalion): 106 Posts

Understanding the Selection Process

The recruitment for the Sub-Inspector posts is a rigorous process designed to select the most suitable candidates. The complete selection procedure consists of multiple stages:

  1. Written Examination: An online objective-type test carrying 400 marks with 160 questions across four main sections: General Hindi, Fundamental Law/Constitution/General Knowledge, Numerical & Mental Ability, and Mental Aptitude/Reasoning. The exam duration is 2 hours, and importantly, there is no negative marking.
  2. Document Verification (DV) & Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates qualifying the written exam will have their documents verified, followed by the Physical Standard Test, which checks minimum requirements for height and chest (for males) and minimum height and weight (for females).
  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates meeting the physical standards move to the PET, which is primarily a running test. Male candidates must complete a 4.8 km race in 28 minutes, while female candidates must complete a 2.4 km race in 16 minutes.
  4. Medical Examination and Final Merit List: The final stage involves a medical fitness test, and the final merit list is prepared based on the marks secured in the written examination among candidates who qualify all other stages.

Preparation Strategy for Aspirants

With the exam dates set, candidates should now shift their focus to targeted preparation. A structured study plan, regular practice with mock tests and previous years’ papers, and thorough revision of the syllabus are crucial for success. Additionally, candidates are advised to begin or intensify their preparation for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) to avoid last-minute stress.
