New Delhi, April 1, 2026: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, accompanied by his mother-in-law and veteran actress Dimple Kapadia, visited the sacred Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, early Wednesday morning. The spiritual visit comes as the actor prepares for the highly anticipated release of his upcoming horror-comedy, Bhooth Bangla.
The duo arrived at the temple during the early hours to participate in the sacred rituals. Akshay Kumar, known for his devotion to Lord Shiva, was seen dressed simply in a traditional white kurta, while Dimple Kapadia opted for an elegant pink saree.
During their visit, the actors performed the Jal Abhishek, a revered ritual involving the offering of water and milk to the Shivling. They were also seen participating in the temple’s prayers, seeking blessings for personal and national well-being.
Speaking to the media after the darshan, Akshay Kumar expressed his gratitude and shared the intent behind his prayers:
“It was a wonderful experience. I prayed for the peace and prosperity of the entire country and for the health of my family. I hope our nation continues to excel and progress on the world stage.”
The visit holds significant professional weight as Bhooth Bangla marks a major milestone in Akshay’s career. The film reunites him with legendary director Priyadarshan after a hiatus of nearly 14 years. The pair previously delivered some of Bollywood’s most beloved cult classics, including Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Garam Masala.
The Mahakaleshwar Temple, situated on the banks of the Shipra River, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is unique for its south-facing idol (Dakshinamurti). For Akshay Kumar, who has frequently visited Ujjain in the past, this spiritual stop serves as a calm prelude to what is expected to be a massive box-office run for his first major release of 2026
