New Delhi, February 13, 2026: After an explosive start at the box office, the Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan starrer Border 2 is witnessing a significant cooling period as it completes its third week in theaters. While the film has already cemented itself as a “Super Hit,” the latest numbers suggest that it is struggling to maintain the same momentum that turned its predecessor, Gadar 2, into a historic phenomenon.

On its 21st day, the film recorded a sharp decline, lagging significantly behind the performance of Dhurandhar, the other major titan of the 2026 box office season.

The Day 21 Report: Numbers and Occupancy

According to early trade estimates, Border 2 earned approximately ₹1.06 crore on its third Thursday (Day 21). This brings the film’s total domestic net collection to an estimated ₹317.06 crore.

While crossing the ₹300 crore mark is a massive achievement—making it Sunny Deol’s second film to enter this elite club—the daily trajectory is a cause for concern for trade analysts. The film saw an overall Hindi occupancy of just 6.38% on February 12, 2026.

The “Dhurandhar” Comparison: A Different League

The headline of the third week has been the comparison with Dhurandhar, the Ranveer Singh-led actioner that released in late 2025 and continued its rampage into early 2026.

By Day 21, Dhurandhar was not just surviving; it was thriving. In its third week alone, Dhurandhar minted a staggering ₹172 crore, maintaining double-digit daily collections even on weekdays. In contrast, Border 2 has seen its third-week numbers drop by over 50% compared to its second week, failing to cross even the ₹25 crore mark for the entire seven-day period.

Global Standing and Final Verdict

Despite the slowdown, Border 2 is far from a failure. The film’s worldwide gross has surpassed ₹464 crore, a figure that many big-budget releases fail to touch. Directed by Anurag Singh, the sequel successfully tapped into the legacy of J.P. Dutta’s 1997 classic, drawing massive crowds in mass circuits like Punjab, Delhi/UP, and Bihar.

However, the dream of chasing the ₹500 crore domestic mark (achieved by Gadar 2) now seems out of reach. With new releases lined up for the coming weekend, Border 2 will likely see a further reduction in screen count.
