January 6, 2026 — Aditya Dhar’s espionage epic Dhurandhar has officially cemented its status as a historic blockbuster. Entering its 32nd day at the box office, the film continues to dominate despite the arrival of new releases, proving that the “Hamza Fever” is far from over.

Starring Ranveer Singh in what critics are calling a career-defining performance, the film has rewritten the record books for Hindi cinema, surpassing the lifetime collections of modern giants like Jawan and Pathaan.

Day 32: The Fifth Monday Hold

After a record-shattering fifth weekend where it collected over ₹13 crore on Sunday alone, Dhurandhar faced its first “normal” weekday drop on its 32nd day (Monday, Jan 5). Early estimates suggest the film earned approximately ₹4.50 crore net in India.

While this marks its lowest single-day haul to date, it is an extraordinary feat for a film in its fifth week. Most films struggle to stay in theaters by this point, yet Dhurandhar continues to play in nearly 4,000 shows nationwide with a steady occupancy of 11–14%.

With these numbers, Dhurandhar has become the first original Hindi film to cross the ₹800 crore mark at the domestic box office. It is now trailing only behind Aamir Khan’s Dangal in the all-time Hindi charts.

Why the Craze?

The film’s success is attributed to its “grounded and gritty” approach to the spy genre. Directed by Aditya Dhar (Uri: The Surgical Strike), the 214-minute long thriller features a stellar ensemble cast, including:

  • Akshaye Khanna: Praised for his terrifyingly calm portrayal of Rehman Dakait.
  • Sanjay Dutt & R. Madhavan: Adding immense gravitas to the high-stakes geopolitical drama.
  • Arjun Rampal: Delivering a sharp performance as the antagonist.

Audience word-of-mouth has been the primary driver. Despite its brutal action and long runtime, fans have returned for multiple viewings, particularly for the “red-screen” sequence and the atmospheric soundtrack by Shashwat Sachdev.

The Road Ahead: Dhurandhar 2

As the film inches closer to the ₹1250 crore worldwide mark, the industry is already looking toward the future. The film’s ending famously teased a sequel, and makers have confirmed that Dhurandhar Part 2 is slated for release on March 19, 2026.
