New Delhi, March 5, 2026 – The Indian-Canadian community is in shock following the brutal murder of Nancy Grewal, a prominent 45-year-old YouTuber and social media influencer. Grewal, known for her vocal commentary on political and social issues concerning Punjab and the Indian diaspora, was fatally stabbed at her residence in the Windsor area earlier this week.
According to the LaSalle Police Service, the incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Emergency responders were dispatched to the 2400 block of Todd Lane shortly before 9:30 p.m. following reports of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers found Grewal suffering from severe, life-threatening injuries. She was immediately transported to a local hospital by Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Despite the efforts of medical staff, she succumbed to her wounds later that evening.
In a statement released on Wednesday, LaSalle Police identified the victim and offered condolences to her family. “The LaSalle Police Service offers our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ms. Grewal,” the department stated.
To manage community anxiety, investigators clarified that they are currently treating the murder as an “isolated incident.” Key details of the investigation include:
Nancy Grewal was a well-known figure within the Punjabi diaspora. Her YouTube channel and Instagram accounts featured a mix of lifestyle content, singing, and sharp political commentary.
She was particularly noted for her outspoken stance against the Khalistan movement and her criticism of various political and religious figures in Punjab. Her videos often addressed the rising tensions between India and Canada, making her a controversial figure in some circles while gaining a significant following for her candid views.
“I lost my sister, my strength, my forever friend. You will always live in our hearts,” her sister, Alishaa M.S. Grewal, shared in a moving tribute on social media.
This tragedy marks the first homicide in LaSalle in four years, a town generally known for its safety and quiet residential neighborhoods. The local community has expressed deep concern regarding the nature of the attack, particularly given Grewal’s history of receiving online threats related to her activism.
The LaSalle Police Service continues to lead the investigation and encourages anyone with information to contact Detective Sergeant Jamie Nestor at 519-969-5210 ext. 2531 or provide anonymous tips via Crime Stoppers.
