Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence recently opened up about her experience filming vulnerable and intimate moments with co-star Robert Pattinson for their upcoming psychodrama, Die My Love, revealing that a deep sense of trust and comfort between the two actors made the process notably straightforward.
The Oscar-winning actress, who stars opposite Pattinson in the intense film directed by Lynne Ramsay, shared the candid details during a recent press engagement, highlighting the professionalism and respectful dynamic they established while bringing their characters’ complex relationship to life.
Speaking about the requirement for an intimacy coordinator, a role increasingly common on film sets for choreographed intimate scenes, Lawrence noted that she felt entirely safe and at ease with Pattinson, which ultimately minimized the need for specialized coordination.
“We did not have [an intimacy coordinator], or maybe we did but we didn’t really,” Lawrence said. “I felt really safe with Rob. He is not pervy and very in love with [his partner] Suki Waterhouse.”
She elaborated on the atmosphere on set, explaining that their off-camera conversations were far more focused on their personal lives, family, and relationships, rather than any awkward or uncomfortable tension. “We mostly were just talking about our kids and relationships. There was never any weird, like, ‘Does he think I like him?'” Lawrence stated, explaining that any slight hint of that kind of uncomfortable dynamic would likely necessitate an intimacy coordinator.
Lawrence went on to praise Pattinson’s conduct, drawing a comparison to other male actors she has heard about in the industry. She noted that Pattinson was not among the group of male actors who might take offense if an actress were to request an intimacy coordinator or set boundaries.
Their on-screen chemistry, which reviews suggest is raw and visceral, was reportedly facilitated by this immediate and mutual trust. Director Lynne Ramsay has also mentioned that the pair clicked quickly and even had dance lessons to help them sync up physically for the roles. Intriguingly, reports indicate that some of the most intimate scenes were filmed very early in the production schedule—a testament to the instant rapport between the leading stars.
Lawrence, who filmed Die My Love while pregnant with her second child, also addressed the film’s nude sequence, stating she does not “care about nudity” and wanted the director to have total artistic freedom. She even joked that being pregnant helped remove a lot of “vanity anxiety” that she might otherwise experience on set.
Die My Love is a highly-anticipated psychological drama that follows a woman’s descent into psychosis after the birth of her child, with Pattinson playing her increasingly strained husband. The film is set for release shortly, and Lawrence’s fearless performance is already generating significant critical buzz.
