The Kannada film and television industry is reeling from the sudden and tragic demise of young actor and comedian Rakesh Poojary, best known for his role in the upcoming film ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. He passed away at the age of 34 due to a massive heart attack.

The unfortunate incident occurred late on Sunday night, May 11, 2025, while Poojary was attending a pre-wedding mehendi ceremony of a friend in Nitte, Karkala taluk, in the Udupi district of Karnataka. According to reports, he was actively participating in the joyous celebrations, even dancing, when he suddenly complained of chest discomfort and collapsed.

Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors were unable to revive him, confirming that the cause of death was a cardiac arrest. The news of his untimely passing has sent shockwaves through the entertainment fraternity and his numerous fans.

Rakesh Poojary, fondly known as “Vishwaroop” by his admirers, had carved a significant niche for himself in the Kannada entertainment scene. He rose to prominence after winning the third season of the popular reality comedy show ‘Comedy Khiladigalu’ in 2020. His infectious humor and vibrant personality quickly made him a household name across Karnataka.

Beyond television, Poojary had also established himself as a talented actor in both Kannada and Tulu films. His notable Kannada movie credits include ‘Pailwaan’ and ‘Itu Entha Lokavayya’.
