Robo Shankar, Popular Tamil Actor, Dies at 46

Tamil actor and comedian Robo Shankar has passed away at the age of 46. According to medical reports from the hospital where he was being treated, his death was caused by severe gastrointestinal bleeding and multi-organ failure.

The actor had a history of health issues, including a battle with jaundice a few years ago which resulted in significant weight loss and raised concerns among his fans. Despite recovering, his health took a sudden turn. He reportedly fainted on a film set and was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on September 16, 2025.

Doctors at the hospital stated that he was in critical condition with a “massive gastrointestinal bleed and multiorgan dysfunction secondary to a complex abdominal condition.” Despite the efforts of the medical team, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and he passed away on the evening of September 18.

Known for his unique body language, mimicry, and comedic timing, Robo Shankar rose to fame through television comedy shows before making a successful transition to cinema. He appeared in popular films such as Maari, Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran, and Idharkuthaane Aasaipattai Balakumara. His sudden passing has been a shock to the industry and his fans, with many colleagues and public figures paying tribute to his contributions to Tamil entertainment. He is survived by his wife, Priyanka, and daughter, Indraja.
