New Delhi, january 24, 2026: The futuristic world of Kasi, the high-tech Complex, and the hidden sanctuary of Shambala are about to get a whole new sound. In a recent update that has sent shockwaves through the Indian film industry, acclaimed music composer Santhosh Narayanan (affectionately known as SaNa) confirmed that work has officially begun on the soundtrack for Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2.
Speaking about the monumental task ahead, Narayanan made a bold promise to fans: the music for the sequel will surpass everything he has done before.
Reflecting on the first installment, which grossed over ₹1,000 crore at the global box office, Narayanan noted that the scale of the project was unlike anything he had ever handled.
“Kalki 2898 AD was a mega learning for all of us,” Narayanan shared in a recent interview. “We have already started working on Part 2, and I hope it is going to be my best work yet. We are putting in an incredible amount of effort to ensure the sound matches the epic scale of the story.”
The composer, known for his unique blend of local folk and international electronic sounds, emphasized that the first film served as a foundation. For the sequel, the team plans to push the boundaries of experimental music even further.
While Kalki 2898 AD introduced us to the dystopian future and the reincarnation of Karna (played by Prabhas), director Nag Ashwin has hinted that the sequel will be even more character-driven. Here is what we know so far:
The buzz isn’t just about the music. Reports suggest that principal photography for the sequel is slated to begin as early as February 2026. Producer C. Aswini Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies has indicated that while the script and pre-production are in full swing, the final filming dates depend on the busy schedules of the film’s “mega stars,” including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan.
With Santhosh Narayanan aiming for his career-best work and Nag Ashwin expanding the mythology, Kalki 2 is shaping up to be more than just a sequel—it’s being treated as the definitive conclusion to India’s most ambitious cinematic universe.
If the thumping beats of the “Bhairava Anthem” and the soul-stirring “Theme of Kalki” were just the beginning, fans are in for an auditory revolution when the second chapter finally hits the big screen.
