New Delhi, january 10, 2026: The “Rebel Star” is back, and the box office is feeling the heat. Prabhas’ latest outing, the highly anticipated horror-comedy The Raja Saab, has made a thunderous debut at the box office. Released on January 9, 2026, the film has set new benchmarks for the year, effectively ending the dominant run of previous 2025 hits.
According to early industry estimates and tracking data from Sacnilk, The Raja Saab raked in an impressive Rs 54.15 crore net in India on its opening day. This massive total includes Rs 45 crore from Friday’s regular screenings and an additional Rs 9.15 crore from special paid previews held on Thursday across South Indian states.
The film’s opening performance is particularly significant as it has comfortably outpaced the first-day collections of some of the most talked-about films of the recent past.
While Dhurandhar had a historic run of over a month—crossing the Rs 1,200 crore mark worldwide—the arrival of Prabhas has finally slowed its momentum at the domestic ticket windows.
The Raja Saab saw its strongest footfall in the Telugu-speaking regions, proving once again that Prabhas remains the undisputed king of the South.
| Language | Overall Occupancy | Top Performing City |
| Telugu | 57.16% | Vizag (82%) |
| Tamil | 22.61% | Trichy (31.25%) |
| Hindi | 15.63% | Bengaluru (22%) |
In Hyderabad, the film saw a staggering 76% occupancy, while Bengaluru led the charts for the highest number of screenings with nearly 980 shows. Although the Hindi version started with a modest 7.47% occupancy in the morning, it showed healthy growth throughout the day, peaking at over 21% for night shows.
Beyond the Indian borders, the film is also making a splash. Reports suggest The Raja Saab has already crossed the Rs 100 crore gross mark globally when accounting for overseas previews and day-one collections. It earned approximately Rs 26 crore from international markets, signaling that the Prabhas brand continues to resonate with the global diaspora.
Directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory, The Raja Saab marks Prabhas’ first foray into the horror-comedy genre. He is joined by a stellar ensemble cast, including:
Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics regarding the plot, the audience response has been fueled by Prabhas’ “swag,” his comic timing, and high-quality VFX. With the Sankranti festive weekend ahead, trade analysts expect the numbers to see a significant jump on Saturday and Sunday.
