The unusual nature of the dispute—which was sparked by the passenger’s winter attire—has led to a heated debate online regarding service expectations and driver responsibilities within the ride-hailing economy.
The short video footage documents the driver firmly defending his decision to keep the AC switched off. His main justification was centered on the passenger’s choice of clothing; the driver clearly points out that the passenger is wearing both a winter cap and a sweater. It was argued by the driver that the AC would not be needed by a person so warmly dressed. A common issue that is often cited by drivers, such as the high cost of fuel and low earnings, was implicitly underscored by his refusal. The driver was recorded stating that the passenger could remove the warm garments if the AC was genuinely desired.
