The investigation into the shocking murder of a young dermatologist in Bengaluru has taken a dark turn, revealing a chilling confession sent by her surgeon husband, Dr. Mahendra Reddy GS, to multiple women he allegedly attempted to woo after the crime.
Dr. Reddy, a general surgeon, was recently arrested on charges of murdering his wife, Dr. Kruthika Reddy, a dermatologist, six months after her death in April. The case, initially registered as an unnatural death, was reclassified as murder following a forensic report that confirmed the presence of a powerful anesthetic drug, Propofol, in the victim’s system—a substance highly restricted for operation theatre use. Police suspect Dr. Reddy used his medical expertise to administer a fatal overdose under the guise of treatment, making the death appear natural.

In a stunning revelation by the police, investigators have uncovered messages sent by the accused in the weeks following his wife’s demise. The most disturbing among them was a blatant, unsolicited confession: “I killed my wife for you.”
Dr. Kruthika Reddy, 29, collapsed at her father’s residence in April and was declared ‘brought dead’ at a nearby hospital. The couple had been married for less than a year, and both worked at a prominent city hospital. Following the victim’s death, her family raised suspicions, alleging that Dr. Reddy had administered drugs on the pretext of treating her for a gastric issue and had pressured them for money earlier.
The breakthrough in the case came with the meticulous work of the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Key evidence, including a cannula set and injection tube, was recovered from the couple’s residence and the FSL report confirming the presence of Propofol ultimately led to Dr. Reddy’s arrest from Manipal, Udupi district, on October 14.
Police have seized the accused’s electronic devices for further forensic analysis, which is what revealed the chilling communication. The statement of the woman who received the message via the digital-payment app has been recorded. She reportedly told investigators that she initially believed he was only falsely confessing to the murder in a bid to talk to her, confirming she had no role in the crime.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact motive behind the murder, which may be linked to the alleged affairs, financial disputes, or other personal issues the couple might have been facing. The case has sent ripples of shock through the medical community in Bengaluru.
