BJP MLA Hiraan Chatterjee Faces FIR Over Alleged Second Marriage

January 24, 2026 – Bengali actor and BJP MLA from Kharagpur Sadar, Hiraanmoy Chattopadhyay (popularly known as Hiraan Chatterjee), has found himself at the center of a legal and political firestorm. His first wife, Anindita Chatterjee, has filed a formal First Information Report (FIR) against him at the Anandapur police station, accusing the actor of bigamy and domestic cruelty.

The controversy was ignited on January 20, 2026, when photographs of Hiraan’s purported second wedding surfaced on social media. The images, which were briefly posted on Hiraan’s own profile before being deleted, showed the MLA and model Ritika Giri performing traditional Hindu wedding rituals on the ghats of Varanasi.

Anindita Chatterjee, who has been married to Hiraan since December 11, 2000, appeared before the police flanked by her 19-year-old daughter, Niyasa. She made several explosive claims:

The Other Side: Ritika Giri Responds

Ritika Giri, a model and fitness enthusiast, countered the allegations via her social media. She stated that:

2. Anindita had already been served a legal divorce notice.

The Kolkata Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), specifically under sections related to marrying again during the lifetime of a spouse and cruelty.
