New Delhi, October 22, 2025: A video clip featuring Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during a recent election rally has been widely circulated on social media platforms, leading to renewed political debate. The footage, which shows the Chief Minister’s slightly awkward interaction while presenting a garland, has been seized upon by the opposition to question his health and fitness to govern the state. A strong reaction was immediately offered by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, whose criticism was publicly shared.
The incident took place while the Chief Minister was on stage, campaigning for a coalition candidate. A garland was attempted to be placed around the neck of BJP candidate Rama Nishad by the 74-year-old JD(U) chief. A brief interruption was caused by his close aide, JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha, who was seen trying to intervene and seemingly advising the Chief Minister to hand the garland over.
Despite the attempted intervention, the garland was eventually placed around the candidate’s neck by the Chief Minister himself. A clear sign of irritation was then exhibited by Mr. Kumar, and the phrase, “Ee gajab aadmi hai bhai” (He is quite a man), was heard being said into the microphone, seemingly directed at his aide. The moment was captured on video and quickly became a talking point across social media.

Questions regarding the Chief Minister’s health and mental state were immediately brought up by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who shared the video on X (formerly Twitter). The clip was captioned with a query regarding the Chief Minister’s behaviour if he was indeed “healthy.” It was implied that the actions seen were unusual for a leader giving a prepared address.
This line of attack, which suggests the Chief Minister is no longer in a proper state of mind to run the government, has been persistently used by the RJD leader for some time. Allegations have even been made previously, suggesting that Mr. Kumar’s erratic behaviour might be the result of a deliberate plot by his alliance partners or his aides.
With state assembly elections quickly approaching, the viral video’s circulation is viewed as a significant political development. Such incidents are being used to raise serious questions about the Chief Minister’s capacity for leadership during a critical period of governance. Meanwhile, Mr. Kumar has not refrained from launching counter-attacks on his opponents.
Sharp criticisms have been made of RJD’s previous governance, with claims being made that women’s empowerment was ignored in favour of familial interests. The political atmosphere is thus being heavily charged as the debate over the Chief Minister’s public conduct is widely discussed, highlighting the intensifying political rivalry ahead of the polls. The video has ensured that the issue of leadership stability will remain a central point of contention in the election narrative.
