New Delhi, November 12, 2025: A spectacular video that purported to show an aerial view of Varanasi’s Dev Deepavali celebrations accompanied by a heartwarming in-flight announcement from a pilot has been conclusively confirmed to be a piece of digital content creation and not footage of a real incident. The clip, which rapidly achieved viral status, was widely shared across social media platforms with the false claim that it documented an authentic moment during a commercial flight over the illuminated city on Karthika Purnima.

The Digital Creator Behind the Viral Footage Is Identified

The striking visuals of the illuminated ghats and fireworks were originally captured using a drone by Anvesh Patel, a digital content creator and photographer based in Hyderabad, Telangana. The aerial shots of Varanasi’s majestic Dev Deepavali spectacle were posted on his Instagram handle on 03 November 2025. The high production quality and the breathtaking perspective of the ghats were the factors that initially drew the massive audience.

The content creator is known for frequently producing similar visually impressive videos, which are often paired with separate audio recordings of pilot announcements to enhance the cinematic effect. This particular video was created by seamlessly overlaying the aerial drone footage with an audio clip that was meant to sound like a flight announcement, resulting in the misleading product that was then circulated as a genuine event.

The False Claim Disseminated Widely

Despite the creative origins, the video was quickly divorced from its original context and was widely propagated by many users who believed they were seeing an actual instance of a commercial flight being diverted or slowed down to appreciate the festival’s significance.

The emotional appeal of the visuals, combined with the patriotic sentiment in the fabricated announcement, was instrumental in the video’s rapid, misleading spread. Previous content created by Anvesh Patel was also debunked when it went viral with similar false claims, reinforcing the pattern of his stylized work being misinterpreted as real news.

Fact-Checks Correct the Public Record

Fact-checking organizations were compelled to intervene to clarify the origin of the video and prevent the false narrative from being further spread. The verification process confirmed that the video was not a real flight announcement and that the stunning visuals were captured by a drone, not from the window of an airplane. The incident has served as a clear example of how artistic content can be easily manipulated and misinterpreted as authentic news, highlighting the ongoing challenge of misinformation in the digital age.
