New Delhi, December 17, 2025: A dramatic and heart-pounding scene from Kidwai Nagar, Ludhiana, has captured the internet’s attention after a viral video surfaced showing an elderly woman bravely confronting two armed snatchers. The footage, which has been widely shared across social media platforms in December 2025, documents the moment a routine scooter ride turned into a life-threatening encounter. The woman’s instinctive decision to stand her ground and shield her companion has earned her widespread praise as an “uncapped hero.”
The incident was captured by a nearby CCTV camera on December 14, 2025. In the footage, two women were observed riding a scooter through a residential lane when they were suddenly intercepted by two miscreants on a motorcycle. The attackers used their vehicle to block the women’s path, pinning them against a parked car and preventing any immediate escape.
As the scooter came to a halt, one of the snatchers was seen jumping off the motorcycle and brandishing a sharp weapon, identified by witnesses as a sword or a large knife. The intentions of the criminals were clear: to forcibly seize the women’s purses and gold ornaments. However, the anticipated compliance of the victims was met with an unexpected and fierce resistance.

While the younger woman on the scooter was observed attempting to distance herself from the immediate danger, the elderly woman displayed remarkable composure. Instead of surrendering her belongings, she was seen confronting the armed man directly.Realizing that a crowd was beginning to gather and that their “easy target” had turned into a formidable opponent, the criminals were seen fleeing the scene empty-handed on their motorcycle.
The video has triggered a massive wave of reactions online. While the elderly woman has been hailed for her “lion-hearted” spirit, the footage also sparked criticism regarding the lack of intervention from bystanders, including a driver in a nearby white car who was observed driving away as the struggle unfolded.
In response to the viral evidence, the Ludhiana Police registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to snatching and criminal attempt. Although the victims did not initially come forward to file a formal complaint, the FIR was lodged on the basis of the CCTV footage. Authorities have confirmed that teams are currently scanning additional cameras in the area to trace the motorcycle’s route and identify the masked assailants.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the rising concerns over street crime in Punjab, but it also highlights the extraordinary courage that can emerge from ordinary citizens when faced with adversity.
