Meerut Man Poses as Buyer, Steals Bike on Test Drive

A cunning theft has left a local resident in Meerut bewildered after his motorcycle was stolen by a man posing as a prospective buyer. The incident, which occurred in a residential area of the city, highlights a growing trend of deception where criminals exploit trust to carry out their heists.

The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, had posted an advertisement online to sell his well-maintained motorcycle. He was contacted by an individual who expressed keen interest in the bike and arranged to meet for a viewing and test drive. The two met at a pre-determined location, and the alleged buyer, a man in his late 20s, appeared polite and knowledgeable about motorcycles, putting the owner at ease.

After a brief inspection of the vehicle, the prospective buyer asked to take it for a short test drive to check its performance. Trusting his intentions, the owner handed over the keys. The thief, however, had no intention of returning. He rode off and disappeared into the city’s labyrinthine streets, leaving the owner stranded and in disbelief.

“He seemed so genuine,” the victim recounted, visibly shaken. “He asked all the right questions about the bike’s history and mileage. I had no reason to suspect he was a thief.”
