Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently given significant attention to Vantara, Reliance Industries’ ambitious wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. His visit and inauguration of the facility have placed a strong spotlight on the project’s goals and achievements. During his tour, he witnessed the advanced medical care provided to rescued animals and expressed his admiration for the scale and scope of the operation.

Spanning 3,000 acres within the Reliance Jamnagar Refinery Complex, Vantara is a haven for a vast array of wildlife. The center provides refuge for over 1.5 lakh animals from more than 2,000 species, including endangered and threatened ones. A key feature is its state-of-the-art wildlife hospital, equipped with advanced diagnostic tools like MRI and CT scan machines, enabling comprehensive veterinary care. While the facility is currently operational, plans are underway to open it to the public in the future, allowing for greater awareness and education about wildlife conservation. This initiative also shows a drive to improve animal welfare within Indian Zoos.
