New CBSE Board Exam Rules Imposed

New Delhi, september 18, 2025: New CBSE board examination rules. It has been announced by the board that a minimum of 75% attendance and mandatory internal assessment will now be required for students to be eligible for their final board results. This new policy is expected to be implemented starting from the upcoming academic session.

The announcement was made in an official circular released by the CBSE headquarters. According to the document, the decision was reached after extensive deliberation and consultation with educational experts. The primary objective is to ensure that students maintain a consistent and disciplined approach to their studies throughout the academic year. It is believed that a higher attendance rate will lead to better classroom engagement and a more comprehensive understanding of the curriculum.

Furthermore, it was specified that attendance records will be meticulously monitored by schools and submitted to the board. Students who fail to meet the 75% attendance criterion may have their admit cards withheld, thereby making them ineligible to appear for the board examinations. Provisions have been made for exceptional cases, such as long-term illness or family emergencies, where a valid medical certificate or other official documentation must be furnished. However, such cases will be reviewed on an individual basis, and the final decision will rest with the board.

In addition to the attendance mandate, the importance of internal assessment has been underscored. Previously, internal marks were often considered a formality, but under the new rules, they will carry significant weight. It has been stated that these assessments will be used to evaluate a student’s performance in practicals, projects, and periodic tests. A structured and transparent system for internal assessment has been advised to schools to ensure fairness and consistency. The marks obtained in these assessments will be a mandatory component of a student’s final board result.

The new regulations have been met with mixed reactions from various stakeholders. Many parents and teachers have welcomed the move, asserting that it will foster greater discipline and responsibility among students.
