New Delhi, June 24, 2026: What initially appeared to be a heartbreaking trekking accident at Pune’s historic Lohagad Fort has rapidly unraveled into a chilling case of cold-blooded murder. The Pune Rural Police have arrested 26-year-old Siya Goyal and her alleged secret lover, 22-year-old Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, charging them with the murder of Goyal’s fiancé, Ketan Vishal Agrawal.
Ketan, a successful director in his family’s prominent real estate business, tragically fell 400 feet into a deep valley on June 18, 2026. While the incident was first reported by Goyal as an accidental slip due to strong winds while taking photos, rigorous police interrogation and a deeply grieving father’s recollections have exposed a meticulous, multi-layered conspiracy.
A Father’s Grief and Retrospective Regret
In the wake of the arrests, Ketan’s father, Vishal Agrawal, opened up about the deeply unsettling “red flags” that the family now deeply regrets overlooking. Following the couple’s lavish engagement in February, Ketan had repeatedly approached his family with concerns regarding his fiancée’s behavior.
According to Vishal, Ketan was increasingly bothered by Siya’s constant, secretive phone use. Over their months together, she spent a disproportionate amount of time on her phone, frequently provoking minor arguments. More crucially, Ketan had explicitly mentioned the name “Chetan” to his family, sensing an uncomfortable closeness between his fiancée and another man.
The family even considered delaying the wedding because they felt Siya was too young. However, her parents reportedly insisted on moving forward with the union, stating they would never find a better match for their daughter than Ketan.
Uncovering the Plot: The Cancelled Bali Trip and a Staged Snake Scare
As investigators dug deeper, they discovered that the tragedy at Lohagad Fort was not an isolated incident, but rather the culmination of a desperate timeline aimed at eliminating Ketan. Police claim that Siya considered Ketan a major obstacle to her long-term relationship with Chetan Chaudhary, whose family operated a business in the same commercial area as her father’s.
The lengths to which the co-conspirators allegedly went to sabotage the relationship became evident during a planned pre-wedding photoshoot trip to Bali earlier in June. Ketan, Siya, her brother, and Ketan’s sister were driving to Mumbai airport for their international flight. All four of their passports were safely stored in a single pouch.
During a brief stop at a food mall in Lonavala, Siya went back to the car under the pretext of retrieving her phone. When the group arrived at the airport terminal, Ketan’s passport was mysteriously missing from the pouch, forcing the cancellation of the expensive trip. Investigators later discovered that Siya had deliberately stolen and hidden the passport to prevent the journey.
Even more shocking is an event that transpired just four days prior to Ketan’s death. On June 14, Siya took Ketan to the exact same isolated spot at Lohagad Fort. According to his father’s statement, an initial attempt was made to push Ketan into the valley. Ketan managed to save himself by frantically grabbing onto nearby bushes. When a confused and shaken Ketan realized he had been pushed, Siya quickly raised a false alarm about a snake, claiming she had merely panicked and shoved him to protect him from danger.
The Fatal Day and Cold Demeanor
On June 18—conveniently scheduled a day before Siya’s birthday—Siya lured Ketan back to the fort under the guise of an outdoor celebration. Unknown to Ketan, Chetan Chaudhary had arrived at the location separately beforehand. To evade digital tracking, Chetan had switched off his internet and left his personal phone at his shop, carrying an employee’s mobile device instead.
When Ketan and Siya reached an isolated edge of the cliff, Chetan closed in. The duo allegedly ambushed Ketan and pushed him over the edge. Following the plunge, Siya spun a narrative of an accidental fall to the Lonavala Rural Police, triggering a grueling three-hour retrieval operation.
The plot began to crumble shortly after the funeral. Vishal Agrawal noted that when the police returned Ketan’s body, Siya displayed an entirely detached, emotionless demeanor. The family’s suspicions grew tenfold when Siya visited their home four days later. During the visit, Ketan’s sister questioned her closely about the exact timeline of the fall, only to receive deeply inconsistent and evasive answers.
Legal Proceedings and Police Custody
Prompted by the family’s official complaint and technical tracking, Pune Rural Police analyzed call records, revealing that Siya and Chetan had exchanged a staggering 2,004 phone calls over the preceding six months, totaling roughly 238 hours of conversation. Cell tower data also placed Chetan at Lohagad Fort at the precise time of the crime.
Following their detention, Pune Rural Police SP Sandeep Singh Gill confirmed that both accused confessed to the premeditated crime during intense questioning. The Pune District Court has formally remanded Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary to seven days of police custody, lasting until June 29, to allow the Lonavala Rural Police to complete forensic collections.
The accused have been booked under Sections 103 (Murder) and 61(2) (Criminal Conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Ketan’s grieving father has made a public appeal to the government to fast-track the case, demanding the absolute strictest punishment for what he described as an incredibly cruel and unnatural betrayal.
